Responsible drinking

Distell recognises that alcohol can be harmful when it is abused. It is therefore important that we continue to promote the responsible use of alcohol in general and in particular to our own employees and customers.

The crucial impact of negative behaviour associated with alcohol consumption has been highlighted in the findings of a research study commissioned by the Department of Trade and Industry (dti) into the socio-economic impact of liquor advertising. It is gratifying to observe that the document has acknowledged a strong compliance on the part of industry with existing codes of conduct and that self-regulation is being applied with ‘vigour’. It is also gratifying to note that the research showed that there is no causal link between alcohol abuse and advertising.
