Stellenryck proves its worth in Berlin South African brand Stellenryck, inspired by the best of Stellenbosch terroir and traditions is earning a wealth of attention since two if its 2010 vintage red wines won medals at the Berliner Wein Trophy Show.
One of the leading wine events internationally, the competition is accredited by the International Organisation for Vine & Wine (OIV), and annually attracts thousands of entries. The Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz blend, which earned gold on the show, is rich with red berry, cherry and chocolate aromas and flavours, laced lightly with oak spice and has firm but supple tannins. The full-bodied, velvety-soft Stellenryck Merlot was a silver medallist. The wine bursts with succulent red berry fruit, offset by a touch of mint and oak spice. Both wines were made in Stellenbosch by Justin Corrans at Die Bergkelder, under the direction of cellarmaster Andrea Freeborough.
