ZONNEBLOEM

Since the early 18th century Zonnebloem has been a leader in the time-honoured art of winemaking.  Today, this tradition lives on from the vineyards, tended by families who have produced grapes for Zonnebloem for over three generations, to the meticulous craftsmanship in the cellar.  This care and attention results in a great wine being nurtured, handcrafted and slowly coaxed  to perfection, until released at optimum quality.  These wines are well-structured to show varietal character with rich, robust flavours, yet remain accessible and easy to drink with a soft palate.

MONIS

Steeped in tradition, Monis, one of the older and most respected names in fortified wines in South Africa, enjoys an unsurpassed reputation for quality, to which the string of awards garnered over the years bears witness.  Monis owes its name to Roberto Moni, an immigrant from Tuscany who acquired a wine cellar in Paarl in 1906.  There he began producing his own range of natural and fortified wines, including a marsala, a moscato and a selection of sherries and ports.

The outstanding range of Monies sherries - pale dry, medium and full-cream - boasts a stylish and contemporary look, which includes a sleek bottle and elegant labels, reflecting the refinement and sophistication of Monis sherries.  Since 1991 Monis sherries scooped up no fewer than 17 Double Gold and 32 Gold medals at the Veritas Awards, the highest honour for excellence in South Africa's winemaking industry, signaling the refinement and quality of the Monis range.

DURBANVILLE HILLS

Seven leading vineyard owners in the Durbanville ward united to create Durbanville Hills together with Distell in order to promote the regional individuality of this prime wine growing area.  The area's close proximity to the sea, with its gift of swirling mists in the morning and the cooling breeze late on hot summer afternoons, allows the grapes to develop leisurely, giving the wines their intense fruit flavours.

The rich diversity of the slopes that give rise to the name Durbanville Hills provides ample variation in aspect, microclimate and soil type allowing for cultivars to be perfectly matched to location.  Thus bringing out their individual character, complexity and weight with the regional stamp of the Durbanville terroir.

PONGRACZ

Inspired by Desiderius Pongrácz, a nobleman and refugee from the Hungarian uprising, whose vision and wisdom revitalised viticulture in the Cape, this is a charismatic and distinctive Méthode Cap Classique.

Composed in the classic French tradition, this magnificent Méthode Cap Classique evokes an air of style, sophistication and nobility – a true reflection of the genius to whom we owe its name. Witty and brilliant, he had the gift of seeing the new in the familiar and finding the unexpected in the traditional. His theories were fresh and provocative – not only on vine cultivation, but also on music, history and winemaking. We pay homage to this scholar and wine lover with our signature Méthode Cap Classique.
